What is Singularly Sensitive and Why Should You Join Us?
Your gentle path to revolutionary growth starts here
Welcome!
I'm Lori L. Cangilla. I’m on a mission to help sensitive, idealistic, introspective women* leverage their gifts for the good of themselves and the world—without taxing their mental, emotional, or physical health. It’s what I call the gentle path to revolutionary growth.
As a woman who ticks all those boxes, I’ve spent two decades working with highly sensitive people (HSPs), creatives, social activists, and deep thinkers in my role as a licensed psychologist.
But therapy isn’t enough. It won’t change the systemic issues that are ravaging our communities and our environments. Therapy centers the problem in the individual.
You are not the problem.
What the Heck is Singularly Sensitive?
I created my Singularly Sensitive® approach to help women like us make sustainable changes in our personal lives and in the world around us. After all, I know we’re filled with great ideas and tremendous hearts. We just need to find sustainable ways to make an impact, reach our goals, and realize the dreams that we hold so dear.
So, you won’t find me telling you to toughen up and be someone you aren’t meant to be. You also won’t see me pedaling your average self-care solutions. Yes, a massage or a vacation feels wonderful in the moment, but the glow fades and we’re still in a world that is too harsh and callous.
The Singularly Sensitive approach is about figuring out your unique path for this moment in your life. It’s meant to adapt to changing circumstances and your own evolution. And it is designed to be gentle: aligned with your personality, your preferences, and your values.
And my role? Think of me as a guide who knows this territory—having big dreams and a bleeding heart in a world that mocks those qualities. I won’t tell you where to go or exactly how to get there, but I’ve learned some things along the way that can make your journey a bit smoother.
I’ll invite you to apply the tools of Exploring, Experimenting, and Integrating as you carve out your path. Along the way, I’ll encourage you to make a Commitment to CHAOS, which means addressing the themes of Change, Hope, Authenticity, Obstacles, and Self-Compassion as they arise in your life.
I hope you find ways to do it all with humor, support from kindred spirits, and lots of creativity, woo, and hot beverages.
All of you is welcome here.
You are Meant to Change the World
You see, the answer to feeling overwhelmed and disillusioned is not to turn away from the world. Giving up on society, your chosen work, or your passion and ideals will not solve your problems. It would simply create more opportunities for anxiety, depression, boredom, disconnection, and resentment. The point is to get activated, not anesthetized.
Burying our rage is a prescription for a volcanic eruption. Let’s direct that energy instead.
Channeling our power and purpose towards making a positive difference is key to building a sustainable and fulfilling life as a sensitive, idealistic person.
When we focus less on the effects of the world on our bodies, minds, and emotions, and more on how to have a revolutionary impact on the world and ourselves, we unlock our true potential. Making a commitment to growth and action is real self-care.
I won’t say that this is always the easiest trail to hike, but the view? Totally worth the blisters, sweat, and occasional tears.
Sensitive, idealistic, introspective people are a force for good, and the loss of one person’s passionate efforts is not felt just individually, but collectively. The world needs you, exactly for who you are.
Your gentle path to revolutionary growth starts here with Singularly Sensitive. I’m honored to walk with you.
Warmly,
Lori
* anyone who identifies as a woman. And any sensitive, idealistic, introspect people identifying as men or nonbinary. Basically, anyone who isn’t a patriarchal a** is heartily welcome here! But please understand that my specialty is working with women/women-identifying clients. That’s the lens I write from, so not everyone may see themselves reflected here. For all things about sensitive men, please visit William Allen’s incredible blog.
